Staff Reporter :Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) killed a suspected criminal during a ‘gunfight’ in the city’s Shahjahanpur area early Sunday.The victim was identified as– Mobarak Ullah Monti, 44.”On secret information, a team of RAB conducted a drive around 3:30am to arrest Monti. As the team reached the spot, Monti and his associates opened fire to the elite force, prompting them to fire back that triggered a gunfight. Monti was caught in the line of fire,” Assistant Superintendent of Police of RAB-3 Md Saiful Islam said.Later, he was rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital where on-duty doctors declared him dead. Police seized a gun, two bullets and a magazine from Monti’s possession. Monti was wanted in several cases, including for the murder of Sumi Akhter whose seven dismembered body parts were found in the capital’s Motijheel area on March 10, RAB sources said.
