Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq said social crimes will go down with active participation of youths in humanitarian works.
“We have to inspire our youths in this regard. It will also bring peace and order in the society and strengthened social bonding,” he said this on Wednesday while addressing a discussion marking World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day-2019 at Holy Family Red Crescent Medical College Auditorium in the capital.
“Bangladesh is now a role model in disaster management and the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has formulated Disaster Management Act-2012,
National Disaster Management Policy-2015, and National Plan for Disaster Management 2016-2020, to institutionalize disaster management and give it a legal base,” Anisul said.
The minister further said not only during natural disaster, Bangladesh Red Crescent Society is providing humanitarian services for long during man-made disaster. Red Crescent is working to provide assistance to Rohingyas alongside the disaster management ministry.
Presided over by Bangladesh Red Crescent Society Chairman Hafiz Ahmed Mazumder, MP, the discussion was also addressed by society Vice-Chairman Dr Habibe Millat, MP, and Senior Secretary of Disaster Management Ministry Md Shah Kamal, among others.
