An ex-student of Jahanirnagar University (JU) was kidnapped on Tuesday noon from campus by a group of unidentified miscreants and is yet to be rescued.
The victim was identified as ex-student of Bangla department (Batch-36) and also the daughter of university’s employee of Al-Beruni Hall (extension part).
“A General Diary (GD) was stayed in this connection with Ashulia Police Station yesterday against some unidentified miscreants,” Mohsinul Kadir officer-in-charge (OC) of Ashulia Police Station told The New Nation. “We are strongly trying to find the clue of this issue,” he added.
Victim’s younger brother said, “We cannot doubt anyone still now. We are preparing to lodge an “abduction case’ against the miscreants.”
Witness said, a female student (ex-student) with her male friend was entering into the campus through the Bismail Gate around 12.00 pm. After reaching nearby the university employee’ club, some miscreants came to the spot from the opposite direction by a microbus (Dhaka Metro-chha 139103) and kidnapped the couple forcibly. After hearing the screaming, people rushed the spot and found the girl’s right foot shoes, earrings and passport size photography.
Zefrul Hasan Sajol, security office of JU said, “After hearing the incident, we rushed to the spot and collected sample of abduction from the spot. Later, we informed to the Ashulia Police.”
JU Proctor Prof Tapan Kumar Saha said, “We have already informed to Ashulia Police Station to look into the matter.”
In this regard, Bangladesh Chhatra Union of JU unit have expressed deep concern by issuing a press release and requested to the authority to take proper steps and ensure the students’ security.”
Earlier, a JU Correspondent of www.bdnews24.com was beaten up JU BCL men while he was trying to rescue a young woman from an alleged abductor in front of the main entrance of the campus.
On March 26 night, a 13-year-old girl was kidnapped and raped by some local youths who worked at Pritilota Hall’s canteen of the university, from her friend’s house in Ambagan area adjacent to the university . After her guardians informed the police, they rescued her on March 27.
Imran Nadim, Acting President of JU Chhatra Union said, “We are feel unsecured due to lack of proper security. We strongly urged to the university authorities to ensure security of its students and staff immediately.”
