Crimes-free society for cherished national dev emphasised

Speakers at a meeting said the law enforcers should be more proactive and their activities must be intensified against the law violators to ensure a crimes-free society and to free the metropolis from drug addiction.
Expressing their grave concern over the issue they asked them to conduct joint operation to evict and uproot the dens of the criminals and drug traffickers, sellers and addicts and took the issue as challenge.
They sought cooperation of the people in checking drug abuse and stressed the need for vigilance and alertness of all to prevent extortion and to bring the law offenders to book.
They were addressing the district law and order committee meeting evaluating the overall law and order situation of the district including Rajshahi city held at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner on Sunday.
Fazley Hossain Badsha, MP, and Akhtar Jahan, MP, addressed the meeting as focal persons with Deputy Commissioner Mejbah Uddin Chowdhury in the chair.
Principal of Court Degree College Prof Shafiqur Rahman Badsha, Charghat Upazila Chairman Abu Sayeed Chand, BGB Battalion Commander Lt Col Anwar-ul-Alam, Additional Superintendent of Police Moazzem Hossain and Advocate Abdus Samad also spoke.
City and District law enforcing agencies chiefs, Upazilla Chairmen, UNOs, government officials, lawyers, members of the civil society and journalists were present at the meeting.
The meeting decided to take immediate drive against criminals, listed terrorists and extremists groups to recover illegal arms and take legal action against unlicensed motorbike drivers.
It also took decision to conduct frequent mobile courts to prevent adulteration in food and also to check preservatives injurious to health.
In view of the gradually rising crimes against women and children, the meeting noted that the criminals should be brought to book urgently.
Lawmaker Badsha said the law-enforcers should have to play supportive role towards successful implementation of the present government’s charter of change and vision-2021 as the success of a government largely depends on law and order situation in the country.
He called upon the law enforcing agencies to devote themselves to eliminating crimes ensuring peace and security of the people.
Badsha said the law enforcers should have to come forward with all their efforts to restore law and order in the district at any cost to fulfill the hopes and aspirations of the public in general.
