The overall crime situation has worsened again in Khulna. Drug peddlers are conducting their business by changing techniques. Everyday, members of different law enforcing agencies including RAB, DNC, DB and Police are arresting some drug traders but the brisk business of drugs are also going on unabated at different places of Khulna. Murders and rapes have also increased at several places of Khulna.
Recently, members of Rab-6 arrested a woman drug trader along with 95 pieces of Yaba tablets from Bagmara area of Rupsha upazila of Khulna district. They also a rice-smuggler along with 13,800 kgs of stolen rice from Mollarhat area of Bagerhat district.
After launching a drive at city’s Polytechnique Institute Intersection at Alaomnagar area on September 16, 2019, under the supervision of Md. Rasheduzzaman, deputy director of Directorate of Narcotics Control, Khulna, DNC’s assistant commissioner and also the executive Magistrate Md. Imran Khan awarded four months rigorous imprisonment to a Yaba trader as he was arrested along with Yaba by the Inspector Saifur Rahman Rana and his staffs of KHA-circle of DNC, Khulna.
Members of Detective Branch (DB) of KMP arrested a drug trader drom city’s Daulatpur area from in front of Mortaza Mansion. Earlier, they also arrested another drug trader from Daulatpur Anjuman road area in the city.
However, it is a matter of great strange that drug peddling and arresting of drug traders are going on simultaneously in Khulna region.
Sources said, Law and order situation has deteriorated again in Khulna region. Drug peddling, stealing, cheating and eve-teasing (Sexual harassment) by the stalkers have been increasing in Khulna city and at Nine upazila areas of Khulna district. School and college going girls are in fear of molesting by some stalkers who often gossip, tease girls, even some girl-students can not go to their educational institutions due to teasing by the desperate stalkers. Drug trading, stealing, and stalking are common features of Khulna region. Members of Law Enforcing agencies can not take any action against the culprits because the victimized persons dare not to give complain specifically to the law enforcers in fear of threat by ferocious extortioninsts, stalkers, drug traders and some marked terrorists, sources said.
It is alleged that some stalkers often hanker after school and college going girls, tease them and obstruct to go to the Institutions. They harass the girl-students in different ways and as such the guardians are worried to send their daughters to schools and colleges.
On condition of anonymity, a guardian of Daulatpur Pabla area said, My daughter has stopped to go to School in fear of teasing by some stalkers.
It is alleged that the stalkers gather, make gossip, take drugs and tease girls at different places of Daulatpur Pabla area. Particularly they gather at Daulatpur Pabla Shobuj Shangho cross road, Keshoblal road, Kundupara, Sharif Amzad road, in front of Pabla Ideal School, Afiluddin School, Sher-E-Bangla girls’ School, Pabla Modhyapara, Pabla Sahapara and Kobirbattala Rony Villa road.
Drug trading is mostly conducted at different places in Daulatpur area under Daulatpur police station in the city.
Drug addicts started stealing and realizing extortion with a view to purchase drugs. Recently, some thieves entered at a house of Pabla area at dead night, but when the residents awake, they fled away. Stealing mobile phones and other things are common phenomenon at all areas in Khulna city and also at nine upazila areas of the district.
It is alleged that different type of drugs are being sold at different places in the city. Near at Khulna Club, at Tootpara, Baniakhamar areas under Khulna Kotwali police station, Zoragate, Housing bazaar, Near T&T office, Goalkhali, Noyabati, Kashipur Padma gate, Khalishpur Industrial areas under Khalishpur police station, Sonadanga bus stand, New Market, Khanjahan Nagor, Sonadanga residential area under Sonadanga police station, Daulatpur Pabla Notun Rastar more Shaid Sheikh Abu Sufian road, Railygate, Pabla Bonikpara, Pabla Dattobari, Chunnur Battala, Pabla Khan para, Pabla Bairagi para, Deana Jessore more,Deana Asader more and Deana Mukul Vandar and Daulatpur Anjuman road (Amtala intersection) area under Daulatpur police station, Arongghatabazar, Sholuabazar and Latabazar areas under Arongghata police station, Jabdipur, Badamtala, Shiromoni and Patherbazar areas under Khanjahan Ali police station under Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) in Khulna city, drug traders have been selling drugs at random.
According to sources, more than at 500 spots at different places under eight police stations in Khulna city, different type of drugs including Yaba, Ganja(Hemp) and Phensedyl are being sold and purchased without any obstruction. Besides, at different places of nine upazila areas in the district, drug peddling is going on unabated. The nine upazilas of Khulna district are- Digholia, Phultala, Dumuria, Terokhada, Rupsha, Batiaghata, Koyra, Dakop and Paikgachha upazila.
On the other hand, the eight police stations under Khulna city are- Khulna Kotwali, Sonadanga, Horintana, Labonchara, Arongghata, Khanjahan Ali, Daulatpur and Khalishpur police stations.
