Crime reporter Nannu succumbs to burn injuries

The senior veteran journalist of Daily Jugantor Moazzem Hossain Nannu has succumbed to his burn injuries at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in the capital after five months of his love son Swapnil Ahmed Piash dieth in a blaze at the same room of the flat.
After this repeat incident, a mystery arises among the common people across the country.
Nannu breathed his last at 8:20am while undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Institute.
Earlier on Friday, Nannu sustained severe burn injuries in a fire in his residence in city’s Aftabnagar area.
It is mentionable that the incident took place five months after his son died in a blaze at the same house.
After the incident, he was taken to the hospital yesterday morning with 60 percent burn injuries.
Family sources said that Nannu went to their son’s room around 3am on Friday and he switched on the room’s lights, a fire broke out with a loud bang.
After fire incident, Nannu himself rushed to the bathroom and stood under the shower to save himself, but he was still severely burnt, ” his wife Pallabi said.
Ershad Hossain, duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters, suspected that the blaze started as accumulated gas in the room came in contact with an electrical spark.
Earlier on January 2, Nannu’s son Swapnil Ahmed Piash (24) died after a fire broke out in the same room due to accumulated gas inside.
When asked about the two repeated fire incident at the same flat, Baddah Police Station OC Pervez Islam told the New Nation that we wanted to investigate his son’s death but Nannu didn’t allow us to do it.
Rather Nannu said, I am a witness of my son’s death in fire incident. Beside, I may have enemies as I am a crime journalist, but my son had no enemies, said Baddah Police Station OC Pervez Islam.
According to local sources, before the fire incident, neighbors heard husband and wife speaking loudly between them from the flat, OC Pervez also added.
Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) Police Outpost in-Charge Inspector Md Bachchu Miah confirmed the news to the New Nation and said that Nannu was admitted to the institute with 60p.c burns.
Nannu was the former General Secretary of the Crime Reporters’ Association of Bangladesh (CRAB).
Benazir Ahmed, Inspector General of Police (IGP) condoled the sad at the death of Senior Journalist Moazzem Hossain Nannu.
Earlier on January 2, Moazzem’s only son Swapnil Ahmed Pias, 24, died sustaining burn injuries at the same house after a fire broke due to accumulated gas inside.
