Staff Reporter :A case has been filed against Bangladesh National Cricket Team player Shahadat Hossain and his wife Nitto Shahadat on charge of torturing their housemaid.A journalist named Mozammel Hossain filed the case on Monday with Mirpur Model Police Station under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act 2000, said Bhuiyan Mahbub, Officer-in-Charge of Mirpur Police Station.Shahadat along with his family members, however, had left their residence in Mirpur to avoid arrest, the police official said.Local people spotted Mahfuza Akhter Happy, 11, the domestic aide of Shahadat, on a road in Journalists’ Housing Society Area at Mirpur on Sunday night, the OC said.On information, a team of police rescued the victim from the area around 9:30pm and found the girl had injury-marks on her eyes, Later, police sent her to ‘One-Stop Crisis Centre’ of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) for treatment, he said.The victim claimed on Sunday night that Shahadat Hossain and his wife tortured her. “Police had conducted raids several times to pick up the accused couple at House No. 6, Road No. 5, Block-H, Section-2 in Mirpur. His house was kept under lock and key,” the OC said.Shahadat Hossain, however, filed a General Diary (GD) with the police station on Sunday afternoon claiming that their housemaid had gone missing on the day, he said.
