Bangladesh on Sunday observed the 10th World Autism Awareness Day with a call to create mass awareness about autism and improve the condition of autistic children.
The theme of the day was — “Toward Autonomy and Self-Determination”.
Various government and non-government organizations chalked out programmes to observe the day in a befitting manner.
President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina issued separate messages on the occasion hoping that the day’s observation would help build further awareness on autism and improve the condition of autistic children.
The Ministry of Social Welfare arranged the main programme at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Sunday morning where Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was present as the special guest.
