Proper coordination among the government, nongovernment and private organisations concerned can create job opportunities for physically challenged people to mainstreaming them in the society.
The observations came yesterday at a meeting of District Employment Implementation Committee for Physically Challenged People held at “Adhikar Chamber” in the Rangpur with its President Advocate MA Basher Tipu in the chair.
Rangdhanu District Protibondhi Adhikar Sangstha (RZPAS) and Prottyasha Protibondhi Nari O Shishu Unnayan Sangstha organised the meeting with assistance of ADD International under financial cooperation of Manusher Janno Foundation.
Senior Vice-president of the committee Monwar Hossain, its Vice-president Advocate Khairul Alam Kamal, General Secretary Tamzida Zannati Shilpi, Rangpur Metropolitan Chamber President Rezaul Islam Milan, President of RZPAS Nur Alam, addressed among others.
Members of the committee, civil society members, journalists, human rights activists and leaders of different organisations working for welfare of the disabled people attended the meeting.
The meeting discussed various issues to further strengthen activities of the organisation, raising funds and availing bank loans to set up handloom and cottage industries for physically challenged people to enhance their job opportunities.
Nur Alam stressed on creating awareness on legal and constitutional rights of the physically challenged population, good governance and coordination in and among different organisations of the disabled people to enhance job opportunities.
Monwar Hossain put emphasis on better coordination of the organisations concerned for properly monitoring implementation process of fixed government quota for jobs of the physically challenged people while employing citizens against various posts.
Advocate Tipu called for coordinated efforts in exploring employment opportunities of the disabled people in the government, non-government, private sectors and business organisations, other departments and institutions.
“The process of mainstreaming physically challenged people would be accelerated through proper implementation of the fixed government job quota for disabled population by the government, non-government and private organisations and bodies,” he added.
