Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque laid emphasise on creating awareness across the country for creating awareness of institutional child delivery to ensure safety for both mothers and newborns. “To achieve the health-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), it is crucial to have a delivery in a health facility by a skilled attendant which, reduce chances of mothers and newborns becoming ill or dying,” he said. He gave the directives to the authorities concerned recently to take proper steps to increase the deliveries at healthcare facilitates specially at Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, said a press release. Zahid was presiding over a views exchange meeting with Family Planning Directorate officials at the health ministry at Secretariat here.
