Cracks have developed at 16 points and 6 pillars subsided before handing over of newly constructed Kazirhut police station building at Muladi upazila in Barisal recently.
District police superintendent visiting the spot opined the constructed establishment as risk porn and informed public works department.
Shawkat Anwar, officer in charge of Kazirhut police station, said Tipu Sultan, a contractor of Barisal city started construction of two-storied building at the cost of 2.88 core taka in 2012.
The then home minister Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir inaugurated the new police station at that under construction building on September 11, 2013. Then police authourity asked PWD authority to complete the construction work rapidly.
But ignoring repeated requests construction of work building going on slow pace with substandard materials and yet not handed over to police even the scheduled date became over on June 2014.
Police station now functioning at an abandoned house at Kazirhut Bazaar under many difficulties, the officer in charge told.
Barisal district police superintendent Aktaruzzaman visited the spot on Wednesday after hearing about developing cracks at 16 points and subsiding 6 pliers at the newly constructed building of the police station.
The SP Barisal said building became risk prone to accommodate police station and so he asked PWD authourity to inspect and repair that before handing over.
Zakir Hossain, Executive Engineer, PWD Barisal, said the construction work done hurriedly for inaugural prgramme of the minister to open the police station and now that caused some problems over compaction of the construction.
However there was no major risk at the building structure and contractor asked to repair faults before handing over, the PWD official told.
