CPD for global agendas with national policies

The 49th meeting of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) was held at the CPD dialogue room on Wednesday.
The meeting endorsed CPD’s work programme which focuses on linking multilateral and regional issues and issues of interest to LDCs with national policies.
The Board also approved CPD’s plan for research, dialogue, publication and outreach-related activities for
August-December, 2017. It took note of the think tank’s ongoing research on the themes of restructuring in the RMG sector, inclusive growth and the citizen’s report CPD will prepare on the core SDG theme ‘Leave No One Behind’.
The Board reviewed CPD’s research, dialogue and publication activities during the ongoing year, and expressed satisfaction over its performance in these areas, said a CPD press release.
It also considered and approved CPD’s Audit Report for 2016 and the revised budget for the year of 2017.
The Board was informed about a number of important events, including an international dialogue prior to the eleventh Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization (WTO MC-11) in early November and also the Fourth CPD Anniversary Lecture, which CPD is going to organise in the coming months.
At the meeting, the Board conveyed its deep condolences on the passing away of Nurul Haq, who was a former Member of the CPD Board. Former Finance Minister M Syeduzzaman presided over the meeting.
CPD Trustees Sir Fazle Hasan Abed, Syed Manzur Elahi, Dr Anisuzzaman, Adv Sultana Kamal, Rasheda K Choudhury, Dr Debapriya Bhattacharya, CPD Executive Director Dr Fahmida Khatun, Prof Mustafizur Rahman, Dr Khondaker Golam Moazzem and M Shafiqul Islam were present.
