Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Secretary General Akbar Khan on Sunday paid a courtesy call on Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Speaker and Chairperson of the CPA executive committee Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury at her office here.
During the meeting, they discussed about the overall preparations centering the upcoming 63rd Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC) scheduled to be held in Dhaka on November 1-8 , said an official release here.
It is a prestigious thing for Bangladesh to organise the CPA conference in Dhaka, the speaker said, adding that all preparations have already been completed in this regard.
Shirin Sharmin said Bangladesh would prove again its capability before the world community through organising the conference.
CPA secretary general wished the 63rd CPC-2017 a success and hoped that the arrangement would be successful under the dynamic leadership of CPA Chairperson Shirin Sharmin.
A total of 550 members of parliament (MPs), including 56 speakers and 23 deputy speakers of the national and provincial assemblies of 44 countries, will join the conference.
