Chattogram Port Authority has launched an eviction drive in Barapol area of the city. In the operation, more than a hundred shops, semi-detached houses and semi pucca establishments were evicted and two acres of land in the port were recovered.
Assistant Estate Officer Muhammad Shihab Uddin, officers and employees of the concerned department, 20 workers and 20 Ansars took part in the operation on Tuesday led by the port’s authorized officer and executive magistrate Gautam Barai.
At this time three bulldozers were used to demolish the illegal installations. Muhammad Shihab Uddin told the media that eviction operations are a regular process to recover the port lands.
