A mobile court of Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) on Thursday fined 10 vessels a total of Taka three lakh and fifty thousand for different grounds. CPA Executive Magistrate Mohammad Abul Hashem conducted the mobile court in port channel and fined these vessels for different reasons including for not keeping safety appliances and bay-crossing approval and not keeping certificates by the masters and drivers of the vessels. The mobile court also realized Taka one lakh and 82 thousand arrears from lighter ship ‘MV Nowroz’.
Besides, the court sentenced one Sumon Kanti Dotto to six months and one Mohammad Ibrahim to 15 days jail for damaging goods at the port jetty by trespassing protected jetty area.
Such drives would continue in future in order to keep the port channel barrier-free and bring discipline in water transportation, the Executive Magistrate said.
