The Chittagong Port authority in cooperation with Chittagong Metropolitan Police in a special drive today evicted illegally set up 102 shops and establishments from city’s port colony area yesterday.
The executive magistrate and authorized officer of Chittagong port Abul Hashem accompanied by port Ansars led the eviction drive from north port colony area where illegally set up shops and club were rented out to others for long. A group of miscreants in connivance with some unscrupulous port employees and locals had illegally been occupying a vast land of port authority for decades. Abul Hashem said the authority issued notices to the illegal occupant to remove their establishments but he did not comply with the order. High port officials, among others, were present during the drive.
