Five people, including a woman, were killed and 15 others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and pickup van on Cox’s Bazar-Chittagong highway in Chakaria upazila on Tuesday morning. One of the deceased was identified as Anwara Begum, 35, wife of Gias Uddin, hailing from Dulahazra of the upazila. Police said the accident occurred at Fasiakhal around 11:30am when the Cox’s Bazar-bound bus of ‘Unique Paribahan’ collided with the Chakaria-bound pickup van, locally known as ‘Magic vehicle’, on the highway, leaving the five dead on the spot.
