All Covid-19 related restrictions will be lifted from Tuesday as per the government decision.
Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam said it to the media on Sunday.
The government imposed the countrywide restriction amid fear of covid’s Omicron variant spreading last month.
On January 13, the government imposed 11 points restrictions after increasing covid infections of Omicron variant. Later, on January 21, the government increased restrictions adding fresh five points including shutting down educational institutes.
After identifying Omicron variant infections, the country witnessed highest covid case log and infection rate.
The highest infection rate reached 34 percent in the country which was highest since the covid infection identifying on March 8, 2020.
The infection rate has been reduced and stands below 10 pc now. Covid Omicron variant is most contagious but is less lethal so that the government decided to lift the restrictions now.
Meanwhile, National Technical Advisory Committee on Covid-19 recommended to the government to lift the curb as the contamination has been reduced. As per the NTAC recommendations, the government announced to reopen educational Institutions from January 22.
Meanwhile, the primary schools will be opened on March 1.
“There will be no more restrictions from February 22 (Tuesday),” Khandker Anwarul Islam said after the weekly Cabinet meeting.
Meanwhile, wearing facemasks outside will be remain as mandatory as per the decision.
“The people will have to continue wearing face masks outdoor. Wearing face masks are mandatory to attend any kind of meeting, seminar or social event,” the cabinet secretary said.
“Academic activities at high schools, colleges and universities will restart from February 22 and primary schools from March 1. The restrictions will not be extended beyond February 22. Everyone will have to wear face masks in educational institutions” said the cabinet secretary.
