The Covid-19 infection is on the rise again in the country. In the last one week, the number of this virus infected patients has increased by about 60 percent in comparison to the previous week, according to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The DGHS Spokesperson Dr Robed Amin unveiled this information at regular online bulletin on Sunday.
In the bulletin, Dr Robed Amin said, “The situation around the world is going through a very fragile situation. Since the beginning of the pandemic in December, 2019, there has not been a situation where about 19 lakh people have been infected with Covid-19 in a single day.”
This has not been seen -which was seen two to three days ago around the world, he added.
The infection rate is thought to be reached at this level due to the Omicron variant.

“In the last one month, until December 20, the level of infection was below two per cent, in many cases even close to one per cent. The detection rate was below two percent on December 26, and since then it has not dropped below two percent. On December 31, the detection rate dropped to 2.84 per cent.”

Twenty people have died in the last seven days, which is much more than the previous week, said the DGHS spokesperson.
