Covid-19 infection rate has been decreasing notably in the country which brings soothing among the countrymen. The detection rate against the sample testing was found reducing constantly from 23.36 percent on April16 to 8.44 percent on Thursday.
Human health experts thanked the ongoing restriction for the decrease of infection and advised to keep the borders closed with India and be strict on health safety measures during Eid festivals to contain the deadly virus sustainably.
According to data of the Directorate General of Health Services 21585 samples were tested in 428 authorised laboratories across the country in the last 24 hours and found 1822 patients positive.
With this, a total of 7,69,160 people have been infected across the country so far.
The data showed that on April 22, the infection rate was 14.63 percent while it was 15.07 pc on the previous day.
It was 16.85 percent on April 20, and 17.85 on April 19 while 19.06 on April 18. The infection rate was 21.46 on April 17.
Continuing the constantly reducing trend, the data showed that the infection rate was slightly above 10 percent in April and below 10 percent since May.
Meanwhile the rate was decreased to 9.39 pc on April 29 but increased again suddenly to 10.34 pc on April 30. On May 1 the rate was reduced to 9.61, on May 2 it was 9.60, on May 3 it found 8.95, on May 4 it was 8.71, on May 5 it belowed to 8.59 and yesterday it stood at 8.44 percent the lowest since the second wave started in March this year.
When contacted, Professor Dr. Be-Nazir Ahmed, former Director (disease control) of the DGHS told The New Nation on Thursday, “When the Covid infection is alarmingly increasing in India and other South Asian countries, it is really a matter of soothing that infection rate is reducing notably in our country.”
He said it is a good result of the ongoing nationwide lockdown imposed to curb the deadly virus spreading from April 5 and extended strictly since April 14.
The health expert said that the trend of reducing infection is very desirable. As such, every people should maintain the health safety rules properly including wearing face mask, abiding social distancing and washing hands minimum 20 seconds with soap regularly.
He also asked all not to make gathering during the upcoming of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr.
The Professor asked the government to be strict on maintaining health measures during the Eid.
Besides, the health expert asked the government strictly keep the borders closed with neighbouring India until the Covid-19 situation is eased there.
When contacted, Professor Dr. M. Muzaherul Huq, former Advisor of the World Health Organisation told The New Nation on Thursday, “The people are more aware of Covid 19 and its consequences now. More people are following the health safety instructions of wearing masks, using sanitizer and washing hands for better result.”
“Besides, ceremonial meetings and functions are not seen due to the government restrictions. Movements are restricted. All these have an impact on reduction of infection and death,” the Professor said.
He said, “If the government could involve the people to participate in all these actions with social or community mobilization, we could fight Covid better.”
The health experts have stressed on vaccination for more people as soon as possible.
Now the objective is to vaccinate our 12 crore people as a target for herd immunity. The priority of the nation is to procure the vaccine as early as possible. The delay will cause more sufferings more death, they warned.
