The government is going to make the Corona Negative Certificate mandatory for every inbound air passengers within a or two daws after issuing a circular, said Prof. Khurshid Alam, Director General (DG) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Sunday.
Besides, at least four thermal scanners are going to be installed very soon at the airport health centre; the DGHS chief also said this after a crisis management committee meeting at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in the capital.
The DGHS will also set Covid-19 sample collection booths at the quarantine centers at the Ashkona Hajj Camp and in Uttara’s Diabari in the city, DG of Health added. At the same time, we are also thinking to enhance the number of nurses and doctors to ensure maximum safety of the passengers, DG also said.
At the meeting, many policy makers discussed over the preparations and actions to be taken at the Airport Health Centers to deal with the second wave of corona virus.
It is learned that at present, inbound passengers via air or sea ports with Covid-19 negative certificates were being asked to stay in home quarantine, while those without negative certificates are being sent to the two institutional quarantine centers in the capital and another in Chattogram.
Though certificate has been mandatory before, but there was a gap. We expect that the new decision will be effective to fill the gap, said Md Habibur Rahman, spokesperson for the DGHS, who attended the DG’s meeting to the HSIA.
Corona has already attacked for the second time in many countries of the world including Italy, France and the UK. At least 5,000 passengers are coming to Bangladesh every day from these countries out of which about four and a half thousand returned through Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport only.
