Covid-19: Bangladesh surpasses France to become 14th worst-hit country

Bangladesh has overtaken France to clinch the 14th spot in the list of the nations worst-hit by the coronavirus pandemic.
In total, the country’s coronavirus tally has reached 329,251 with the detection of 1,892 more cases in the last 24 hours till Tuesday.
France has now 328,980 cases. However, the Europen country has so far reported 30,726 deaths from the virus.
Meanwhile, the death toll in Bangladesh has reached 4,552 as 36 more people succumbed to the virus in the past 24 hours.
Of the new deceased, 19 are men and 17 are women. Among the total dead, 3,553 or 78.05 percent are men while 999 or 21.95 percent are women.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the information through a press release in the afternoon.
In the last 24 hours, 14,973 samples were tested in 94 labs across the country. With this, a total of 1,659,697 samples have so far been tested in the country.
During the period, 3,236 people made recovery to take the national recovery rate to 69.19 percent. In total, recoveries in the country have reached 227,809.
Besides, the infection rate was registered at 12.64 percent in comparison with the tests conducted during the period while the infection rate is 19.84 percent against total tests carried out so far.
Bangladesh has one of the lowest mortality rate in the world at 1.38 percent.
On Sunday, Bangladesh reported 37 deaths from coronavirus and 2,202 cases after testing 15,412 samples.
Meanwhile, the global death toll from coronavirus has jumped to 896,865 as of Tuesday morning.
Besides, 27,489,116 people have so far been infected with the virus across the world, according to Worldometer.
Of the currently infected 7,002,042 patients, 6,941,742 are in mild condition while 60,300 are in serious or critical condition.
So far, 19,590,209 people have made recovery from the disease in different countries.
The US is the worst-hit country with highest cases and deaths in the world at 6,485,575 and 193,534 respectively while India has 2nd highest cases at 4,280,422 and Brazil has 2nd highest deaths of 127,001.
