Two children died after drowning in a pond at Kadirjungal village in Karimganj upazila of Kishoreganj on Friday.
The deceased are one and a half year old Khadija Akhter, daughter of Morjan Ali of Gangail Pathanpara area of Adirjungal Union of the upazila and Kanchan Mia’s one and a half year old son Md. Anna’s Mia About the two dead children are cousins.
The locals and police saids that two children were playing with other children near the house on that day. After playing, the other children went home but there was no trace of them. Later the family members started searching in different places around the house. At one point, their bodies were found floated in the pond near the house. Later the family members went and recovered their bodies.
Officer-in Charge( OC) in Karimganj Police station Shamsul Alam Siddique confirmed the incident.
Kadirjungal UP Chairman Arif Uddin Ahmed Kanak said that, the two children were rescued from the pond and taken to the emergency department of Kishoreganj 250 bed general hospital where the duty doctors declared them dead .
