Cousins beaten nephew Alfaz Hossain Ghazi (36) in a dispute over land in Kolaroa Upazila of Satkhira on Tuesday .
The incident took place at Sonabaria village in the upazila at around 7:30 pm on Tuesday . The deceased was identified as Alfaz Hossain, son of Shahadat Gazi of southern Sonabaria village of Gazi upazila and a trolley driver by profession.
The elder brother of the deceased, Altaf Hossain Ghazi, said that for the past six years, family disputes over land had been going on with his uncle. Meanwhile, the conversation between them started at 7.30 pm on Tuesday (July 7). At one point, his uncle Solomon Gazi, cousin Ismail, Gani and cousin Nazmul came into the house jointly, killing Alfaz and wounding him with blood. Later, in an alarming state, Alfaz was first admitted to Kalaroa Hospital.
He was taken to Satkhira Sadar Hospital at midnight on Tuesday for better treatment as the condition deteriorated. The duty doctor declared him dead.
The duty doctor of Satkhira Sadar Hospital. Mahbubur Rahman said that when Alfaz was taken to Satkhira Sadar Hospital, he fell into the throat of death upon seeing a heartbeat.
Kalaroa Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Manir-ul-Ghias confirmed the incident and said that Alfaz was killed in connection with a dispute with his uncle. Two women were arrested in the incident. The operation is underway to arrest the remaining, he said.
