Court Correspondent :
A Dhaka court yesterday fixed February 6 to hear charge against former Communications Minister Barrister Najmul Huda in a case filed against him for suing former Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha on the charge of false allegations.
Judge Sheikh Hafizur Rahman of the Special Judge Court-9 of Dhaka passed the order after hearing.
Earlier, Najmul Huda’s counsel Ashanur Rahman appealed to the court to defer the hearing on Sunday as his client Barrister Huda was sick
while the court granted the appeal and fixed the new date. Sunday was earlier fixed for charge hearing in the case.
On November 24, Metropolitan Senior Special Judge of Dhaka KM Imrul Kayes took the cognizance of the charge sheet and sent the case to the Special Judge Court-9 of Dhaka for next proceedings. On February 19, 2020, Dhaka Division Office-1 of Anti Corruption Commission’s (ACC) Director Syed Iqbal Hossain filed the case with Shahbagh Police Station of the city against Najmul Huda.
The case dossier says on September 27, 2018, Najmul Huda dodged a false case against former CJ SK Sinha. In the case he brought charge against SK Sinha that a case against Najmul Huda was rejected by the apex court. But later SK Sinha was bribed and changed the verdict of the case against Huda. Allegedly, SK Sinha took Taka one crore and 25 lakh to charge the verdict.
Later, the case was sent to the ACC for further inquiry and after one and a half year, the case against Sinha was not probed as the case was filed on false allegations.
