Court orders to investigate sexual assault of female in Barishal

A court in Barishal ordered to investigate sexual assault incident of a murder case female accused during remand.
Barishal Judicial Magistrate Court-3 Judge Mahfuzur Rahman took the allegation into cognisance on Friday.
The Judge ordered She-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital’s director to submit report of torture signs and time within 24 hours.
Nahida Khanam, assistant of the Judicial Magistrate Court-3, confirmed the news on Saturday night.
Superintendent of Barishal has also been asked to investigate the incident. As per the court order, the hospital director HM Saiful Islam submitted a report on Saturday.
Saiful Islam said, ” We pressed the report before the court on time. The accused woman went back to the jail after receiving treatment at the hospital.”
According to the court, the woman was arrested on June 28 in a murder case and took her to Ujirpur Police Station. After taking there, the on-duty police members beat her with sticks.
On June 29, she was placed on a two-day remand.
The accused alleged that she was sent to an investigation officer’s room the same day where she was sexually assaulted.
But the police station inspector Mainul Hossain denied the allegation and said all the allegation have been brought are false. Police on June 26 recovered the body of a man named Basudev Charabarti from Jambari village under the upazila. Later, the woman was arrested in the murder case.
