Court Correspondent :
The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka yesterday (Wednesday) directed the Principal of Sir Salimullah Medical College to conduct a fresh autopsy of the body of model actress Nayar Sultana Lopa after exhuming her remains from the grave through a three-member committee.
CMM Bisah Kumar Saha also ordered the Principal on Wednesday to form a committee with this end after hearing on a petition filed by the lawyer of the plaintiff. The order of the court also says that the body will be exhumed in presence of an Executive Magistrate and measures will be taken to send the autopsy report to the court within two weeks.
On October 16, police recovered her hanging body from her flat at Gulshan in the capital. It has been alleged that her legs were touching her bed. Besides, the post mortem report of police about the death is allegedly mysterious. However, the Medical Board of the Forensic Medicine Faculty of Dhaka Medical College says in their viscera report that the death happened due to ‘suicide’.
The 35-year old model actress Lopa was famous for her child role ‘Tuni’ in novelist Humayun Ahmed’s popular television serial Ei Shob Dinratri.
Her mother Razia Sultana alleged Lopa was killed and her body was found hanging at the Gulshan house on Oct 16. Sultana also filed a case against her son-in-law and the husband of the victim, Ali Amin.
As the earlier autopsy report described Lopa’s death as ‘suicide’, the victim’s mother went to the court to appeal for a fresh autopsy and the court has ordered formation of a three-member committee, led by the principal of Sir Salimullah Medical College, keeping an Executive Magistrate on it.
