A Chattogram Court has accepted the chargesheet, filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), against former Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Teknaf Model Police Station Pradeep Kumar Das and his wife in a graft case.
Senior Special Judge Sheikh Ashfaqur Rahman on Wednesday accepted the chargesheet, said ACC lawyer Sanwar Hossain Lavlu.
Meanwhile, the court rejected the bail petition filed by OC Pradeep and also issued an arrest
warrant against his wife Chumki Karon as she was remained absconding since Pradeep’s arrest in the Major (retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan murder case.
On August 23, 2020, ACC filed the case against sacked OC Pradeep and his wife for amassing wealth worth over Taka four crore.
Earlier, OC Pradeep and his wife were given notice to submit the statement of their assets and they submitted it after getting the notice.
Following their statement, after a long investigation, the ACC has reportedly found information about Pradeep and his wife that they had acquired assets worth more than Taka four crore.
Major (retd) Sinha was killed in police firing at Baharchhara Police Check-post on July 31, 2020.
Sharmin Shahriar Ferdous, elder sister of Sinha, filed a case at Teknaf Senior Judicial Magistrate Court after the incident on August 5.
Earlier, the same court here asked the Deputy Commissioners of Cox’s Bazar and Chattogram to confiscate the assets of ex-OC of Teknaf Model Police Station Pradeep Kumar Das and his wife in a graft case.
On June 27, a Cox’s Bazar court framed charges against 15 accused including Pradeep Kumar Das, in the major (retd) Sinha MD Rashed Khan murder case.
