Law enforcer recovered dead bodies of a pair of a spouses from the city’s Fakirerpool area on Wednesday night.
The bodies were found in a room on the rooftop of a five-storey building thereat.
The victims have been identified as Shahidul Islam and his newly married wife Morzina. Deceased Shahidul was the caretaker of the building.
Local sources said that the deceased Shahidul and his wife Morzina were missing for last few days.
Police found Shahidul’s body hanging from the roof of his room while her wife Morzina’s body was found in a plastic drum.
According to Shahidul’s relatives, they went to Motijheel Police Station for lodging a complaint as both were out of contact since Sunday last.
Jahidul Islam, Assistant Commissioner (DC) of Motijheel Division has said that the owner of the building has been staying abroad. Caretaker “Shahidul used to collect the rents and sent it to the owner. On Thursday night, their bodies were found on the rooftop. Later police recovered bodies from the spot.
The bodies were taken to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital for autopsy.
