Police recovered the bodies of a newly-wed couple from a house at Valuka village in Kumarkhali upazila of the district on Friday morning.
The deceased were identified as Dilip Kumar Rao, 31, and his wife Shohagi Rani, 23, of Bhabanipur village under Shailkupa upazila of Jhenidah district.
Locals said having no response from the room in the morning, family members broke the door and found Dilip hanging from the ceiling and Sohagi’s body lying on the bed.
Dilip along with his wife visited his father-in-law’s house on the occasion of this Durga Puja. They were married on June 27 this year. Police Superintendent of Kushtia SM Tanvir Arafat said Dilip could have committed suicide after killing his wife at night. Bodies were sent to Kushtia General Hospital for autopsy, he added.
