A couple was found dead with their throats-slit in a farmhouse at Balapara in Khatta Madhupur union of Syedpur upazila in Nilphamari district on Sunday morning.
The deceased were identified as Nazrul Islam, 52, and his wife Salma Khatun, 45.
Abdur Razzak, a worker at the farmhouse, also sustained critical stab injuries when he tried to save the couple. reports our local correspondent quoting Shahjahan Pasha, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Syedpur Police Station.
“At least five armed assailants swooped on the couple over land dispute around 2:30am when they were sleeping and stabbed the duo indiscriminately, leaving them dead on the spot. After the committing murders, police recovered the bodies in the morning,” the police official said.
However, Police visited the scene and collected primary evidence, the OC said.
The bodies were sent to Nilpahamri Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsies.
Meanwhile, Police arrested about six persons suspecting their involvement in this incident. They are identified as Aslam Hazi, 65, his son Labo, 40, Sajal, 30, housemaid Rahima, 35, and neighbor Rashidul Islam, 40.
