Dhaka Customs House preventive team on Sunday held a couple with six lakh Saudi Riyal at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in the city when they were trying to launder the money in Singapore
The couple was held from HSIA boarding bridge 1x .
Based on an information that foreign currency would be laundered, a team of Customs House preventive team kept an eye on the passengers of Singapore Airlines flight SQ449 in the Airport.
The couple was identified as Masudur Rahman and Mahmuda Urmi after searching their baggage 5,94,500 Saudi Riyal was found which was being carried without any announcement for laundering.
Dhaka Customs House Assistant Commissioner Saidul Islam told media that the couple lives at Dhania under Demra thana and they were travelling to Singapore.
A case has been filed against them.
