Tapon Roy, judge of Additional District and Session Judge Court-2, Bagerhat in a judgment delivered on Tuesday noon convicted husband and wife for rigorous imprisonment for life and to pay a fine of Tk 10 thousand each in default to suffer another rigorous imprisonment for 6 months more on the charge of killing a young man named Alamgir Hossain (22). At the time of the delivery of the judgment convicted husband Md. Sirajul Islam Mia (28) was present, but convicted wife Mosmmat Sabina Begum (24) was absconding. Md. Sirajul Islam Mia is the son of one Baschu Mia from village Jogihda under Mahspur Upazila in Jhenidha.
The prosecution story, in short, is that Sirajul Islam and his wife Mosammat Sabina Begum used to reside in a rented house belonging to one Gani Mia of village Gobindapur under Rampal Upazila in the district.
Deceased Alamgir Shaikh (22) was well known to them (convicted persons). At a night taking the opportunity of the absence of Sirajul Islam debauched Alamgir Shaikh committed rape with Sabina Begum forcibly. The victim wife disclosed the matter to her husband. Then they decided to take ravage of it and accordingly, they tactfully invited Alamgir Sahikh on the night of December 15, 2016, strangulated him to death and threw the dead body in a pond. In this connection Mosharaf Hossain, father of the deceased registered a murder case with Rampal PS. Police after investigating into the matter submitted a charge sheet to the court on March 24 in the year of 2017 accusing both husband and wife. The learned judge after examining 11 witnesses and evidences awarded the accused persons the aforesaid punishment.
