Police recovered the bodies of a couple from a house in Nageshwari upazila of Kurigram district on Friday .
The deceased were identified as Nazrul Islam Mona, 53, and his wife Rumi Begum, 32, Baniapara village in the upazila, reports from our district correspondent quoting Rowshan Kabir, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nageshwari Police Station.
Police found Nazrul’s body was found in one room while his wife’s body was lying on the floor in another room of the house around 9:30am, the OC said.
Quoting locals, the OC said that a nine-month old infant of the couple was crying inside the house since the morning that drew attention of the neighbours and later, they entered the house and found the bodies of the couple dead.
On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to Kurigram General Hospital morgue for autopsy, the OC said.
The couple might be strangled to death in the wee hours last night following
a loan related feud, he said.
Nazrul was a usurer and invested thousands of taka as loan to many people locals said.
A case was lodged with Nageshwari Police Station in this connection.
