The country’s largest coronavirus-dedicated hospital at Dhaka North City Corporation’s Mohakhali market has been inaugurated on Sunday.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque inaugurated the hospital at 11:30 am.
According to the Ministry of Health, the hospital will have a 100-bed intensive care unit facility. In the meantime, 112 high dependency units (HDU) have been set up. There is also a central oxygen supply system for patients.
The Ministry of Health has been arranging 500 doctors with different specifications, 700 nurses and 700 assistants or staff and medicines and equipment to provide medical services in the hospital.
Brig Gen AKM Nasir Uddin, director of the hospital, said, “We are running the hospital partially with 50 bed-ICU facilities, 50-bed emergency services (medicine) and isolated rooms with 150 isolation beds. The Bangladesh Army will operate the hospital.”
