Country’s export earnings rising despite political volatility

Despite political volatility prevailed in the country, the export earnings reached to US 30.2 billion dollars during 2013-2014 fiscal which was 12 per cent or US 3.16 billion dollars more than the previous fiscal.
Finance Minister Abul Mal Abdul Muhith told this replying to a question from lawmaker Didarul Alam of Chittagong-4 constituency at the question answer tabled in the House here Sunday.
“Although the country had to face political turmoil during the first half in 2013-2014, but due to time befitting efforts undertaken by the government the export earnings reached to US 30.2 billion dollars from its earlier achievement of US 27.04 billion dollars during 2012-2013 fiscal”, the finance minister said.
Even the export earnings from July to January of the current fiscal has also reached to US 17.8 billion dollars which was 2.1 per cent more than the same period of the previous fiscal, Muhith told the parliament.
On the other hand, the export earnings of 2013-2014 fiscal was three times more than the export earnings in 2005-2006 during the regime of BNP-led four-party alliance, said the minister.
The export earnings increased as various efforts along with the intensive diplomatic moves were taken by the government, said the minister.
