UNB, Sylhet :
Badiul Alam Majumder, secretary of civil society platform Shushashoner Jonno Nagorik (Shujan) on Saturday said that the country would face dire consequences if the upcoming parliamentary election is held controversially.
He was speaking as the chief guest at its divisional meeting at a city hotel.
Badiul Alam said the Election Commission (EC) will have to play an important role to hold the polls neutrally and inclusively.
The EC will consult with all political parties to ensure the participation of
all the parties in the upcoming 11th parliamentary election, he opined.
He urged everyone to face all evil forces for protecting country and its democracy.
He believed that it will be possible for the EC to hold an acceptable election to all if the civil society is vocal. He called upon the mass people to stop militancy and fundamentalism to ensure good governance in the country.
Shujan Sylhet committee president Faruk Mahmud Chowdhury presided over the programme while its central coordinator Dilip Kumar Sarkar conducted it.
