Bangladesh has registered 25 deaths from Covid-19 in the 24 hours to Saturday morning. With the latest development, the total number of deaths reached 7,242 in the country.
The country also logged a total of 499,560 coronavirus cases with 1,267 people testing positive over the same period.The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) revealed the latest figures on Covid-19 in the country with a press release on Saturday.
Of the 25 deceased – 17 men and eight women – 15 were from Dhaka division, four from Chittagong, two each from Khulna and Mymensingh, and one each from Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions.
All the 25 victims died in different hospitals across the country.
So far, 5,522 men (76.25%) and 1,720 women (23.75%) have died from Covid-19 across the country.

Since the beginning, 3,959 have died in Dhaka Division, 1,343 in Chittagong, 426 in Rajshahi, 516 in Khulna, 231 in Barishal, 283 in Sylhet, 326 in Rangpur, and 158 in Mymensingh.
The mortality rate against the total number of cases detected so far stands at 1.45%.
The health authorities said 1,987 people recovered from the disease over the preceding 24 hours.
So far, 435,601 patients – 87.2% – have made full recovery across the country.
As many as 12,300 samples, including the pending ones, were tested in the 159 authorized labs – government and private – across the country.
Saturday’s infection rate is 10.30%. The overall infection rate of the country stands at 16.31%.
Currently, 12,355 people are in isolation and 39,948 are quarantined.
On March 8, health authorities in Bangladesh reported the first three cases of Covid-19, a severe acute respiratory illness caused by a new coronavirus strain which was later named Sars-CoV-2.
The novel coronavirus broke out in China’s Wuhan city in late December last year and quickly spread throughout the world, becoming a pandemic in less than three months.

The fast spreading coronavirus has claimed 1.683,354 lives and infected 76,104,704 people across the world till Saturday afternoon, according to Worldometer.
As many as 53,365,949 people have recovered from Covid-19 which has spread to 218 countries and territories across the planet.
