A mega development project of Tk 1655.5 crore for Comilla University (CoU) was approved by the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on Tuesday. The approval was given at the 11th ECNEC meeting of 2018-19 fiscal chaired by ECNEC Chairperson and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the NEC conference room while Prof Dr Emran Kabir Chowdhury, Vice-Chancellor of CoU was present in the meeting.
After the ECNEC meeting, Planning Minister AHM Mostafa Kamal said, a total of 21 projects were approved with the cost Tk 19,778.73 crore. He added, of the total project cost, Tk 17,316.93 crore will come from the government, Tk 233.93 crore from the organisation’s own fund while the rest of Tk 2,227.87 crore will come from project assistance.
CoU Registrar (acting) Dr Md. Abu Taher said, a project of 1655.5cr was approved on ECNEC for the development of CoU without any condition. In this project, land acquisition and all constructional development for the university also included.
