CoU expels two students over assault on journo

The Comilla University (CoU) authorities on Wednesday temporarily expelled two students, including a BCL leader from the university for assaulting a journalist.
The decision was taken at an emergency meeting of academic committee with vice-chancellor in the chair after a three member probe committee over the attack submits its report, said an office order signed by the university registrar (in-charge) Professor Md. Abu Taher.
The suspended students are the university BCL unit Deputy Social Service Secretary Muntasir Hridoy, expelled for three months and Raju Ahmed for two months, both are third year students of Accounting and Information System Department of the university.
The office order also warned Miraz Khalifha of the same department for breaking the university discipline. Registrar Abu Taher told The New Nation that the university Vice-Chancellor Prof Emran Kabir Chowdhury issued the expulsion order against the students over assaulting Tibro Bonik Sojib (the university correspondent of the Daily Business Bangladesh) on 4 this month.
