Department of English, Comilla University (CoU) celebrated William Shakespeare’s 454th Birth anniversary on Monday. Liberal Minds’ ‘Reading Circle’ arranged the program including discussion program, poem recitation and staged drama to mark the day.
The program started by cutting a birthday cake and wishing Shakespeare. Then a discussion program was held. Jahidul Alam, Chairman of English Department chaired the program.
Akbar Hosain, Assistant Professor of English Dept and Convener of Liberal Minds, Dr Ahmed Mawla, Associate Professor of Bangla Department, Kazi Sazia Israth, Convener of Reading Circle, teachers and students of English department also present on the program. On the discussion program life and works of Shakespeare was discussed.
Jahidul Alam, Chairman of the department presented a paper on Shakespeare titled “Was Hamlet Making Delay at All?: A Matter of Cognition”. From the Students Abdulla Al Musayeb also presented a paper titled “Reinvestigating Shakespeare: Now and Then”.
Teachers and students of English Department staged 3 drama of Shakespeare to mark the day ¾ “King Lear “, ‘Hamlet’ in Our Times and ‘King Henry 4’ Part 1.
