Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department (CIID) detained cosmetics laden container at Chittagong Port recently . The container filled in cosmetics goods was imported from abroad with false declaration aimed at evading govt duties .
CIID sources said M/s. MR Enterprises of Dhaka imported these contraband cosmetics from UAE with declaration of automobile accessories . CIID said bill of entry was submitted in customs to release the container by the C&F agent Surma Trading co of Chittagong.
Acting on secret information, customs intelligence officials detained the container from the port shed and found valuable cosmetics inside the container instead of accessories. Later the importer released the goods paying Tk.1.11 cr but the importer tried to release these consignment paying only T.4.50 lakh with misdeclaration, sources said.
