UNB, Dhaka :Apart from many departments of the government, chairman of the Anti Corruption (ACC) Iqbal Mahmood on Sunday said people are also not getting the expected level of service from private agencies.”It is not just the ACC…people have lost faith in many public and private agencies. Public and private officials are primarily responsible for the mistrust among general people,” Mahmood told a meeting at the Commission’s conference room in the capital. The national anti-graft agency arranged the views-exchange meeting withgovernment officials on its draft Strategic Work Plan 2016-21.Mahmood said, every government is committed to take public services to the doorsteps of all and people also want to avail such services easily. “But, when they go to service providers, they become victims in various ways in getting services,” he said, adding that there are thousands of physicians in the country and many of them do not go to their workplace. About corruption in the education sector, the ACC chief said now people are curious about what teachers are teaching at educational institutions, but the reality is that many teachers do not go to the classroom, which is also a corruption.He said, corruption is the main impediment to the realization of a prosperous Bangladesh in the spirit of the Liberation War 1971. ACC commissioners AFM Aminul Islam and Dr Nasiruddin Ahmed, additional secretary of Roads and Highway Division Shafiqul Islam, additional secretary of Economies Relations Division Mahmuda Begum, director of Bangladesh Public Service Commission Rowshan Ara Zaman and additional secretary of Information Ministry ASM Mahbubul Alam, among others spoke at the meeting.
