Bangladesh recorded the highest single-day coronavirus deaths for the second consecutive day on Monday as 42 more patients died in the last 24 hours raising the death toll to 930.  
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed it on the day.
The country passed three months with the coronavirus attack as it reported first case on March 8.
 “With the new fatalities, the death toll now stands at 930 and the death rate at 1.36 percent,” Professor Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General (Administration) of DGHS, said in a press briefing.
She said that 2,735 more people tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of infected patients reached 68,504.
The DGHS official said that 12,944 samples were tested in 50 laboratories across the country during the same period.
The detection rate of new patients on Saturday was 21.13 percent, Dr Sultana said.
Besides, she said, 657 Covid-19 patients recovered and released from different hospitals across the country till Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 14,507. She said the recovery rate rose to 21.25 percent against the detected cases. The mortality rate is now 1.36 percent in the country, she added.Dr. Sultana said 297 people were put under isolation in the last 24 hours, while 144 were released. Currently, 7,552 people are in isolation.
During the same period, another 2,228 people were quarantined at home and institutionally and 1,852 were released. At present 56,072 people are quarantined across the country.
The DGHS official said that among the deceased, 33 were males and nine females.
She said that of them, 25 were from Dhaka, eight from Chattogram, two from Khulna, one from Rajshahi, one from Sylhet, one from Rangpur, two from Barishal and the other two were from Mymensingh division.
Of them, Dr. Nasima Sultana said, three were between 21-30 years old, one was between 11-20 years old, one between 31-40, seven within 41-50, 10 between 51-60, 12 between 61-70, four were 71-80, two within 81-90 and another two were 91-100 years old.
Dr Sultana said citing IEDCR that males account for 77 percent of the total deaths while the females are 23 percent.
