Of the total suspected Covid-19 samples tested in the 24-hour period till the daily Covid-19 press brief on Saturday, 20.94% turned out to be positive, a slight drop from the previous day.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 13,638 samples were tested between Friday and Saturday mornings in different laboratories across the country.
Of them, 2,856 samples tested positive for coronavirus infection, which is 20.94% of the total samples tested. It was 21.71% on Friday.
Meanwhile, the overall percentage of tests turning out to be positive is 17.22% in Bangladesh.
Until Saturday afternoon, there were 84,379 reported Covid-19 cases in the country, including 1,139 deaths.
Bangladesh has also overtaken China in the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases.
To make the contrast more apparent, the virus broke out in China in December 2019, while the first Covid-19 case in Bangladesh was reported on March 8, 2020.
