A campaign against corona virus was held at Saidpur, Nilphamari. The campaign was organized by Saidpur Upazila Health Complex on Monday with the technical support of Plan International Bangladesh, financial support from Global Affairs Canada and the Score (Strengthening Covid-19 Response) Project implemented by the World Mission League (LASB Hospital). The campaign was held at the premises of local 100-bed Hospital in Saidpur under the slogan “Get vaccinated against corona virus, build a corona free society”. Saidpur Upazila Parishad Chairman Moksedul Momin was present as the chief guest. Saidpur Upazila Executive Officer (UNO), Md. Shamim Hussain was present as the special guest. Saidpur Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Abu Md. Alemul Basar presided over the campaign and delivered the welcome speech. Plan Bangladesh’s Communication Specialist Shahina Sultana and Gender Specialist Ifatnur, Score Project Technical Coordinator Md. Mahbubur Rahman and other officials were present.
Saidpur Upazila Health Complex Medical Technologist (EPI) Md. Abu Taher Siddiqui conducted the discussion and award distribution program organized on the occasion of the campaign.
Earlier, the campaign was inaugurated through a colorful rally. In addition, eight stalls including Saidpur Upazila Health Complex, Upazila Family Planning Department, five Union Health and Family Welfare Centers, Maternal and Child Welfare Center were set up at the venue on the occasion of the Corona Virus Prevention Campaign. These stalls provide awareness about corona as well as information on pregnancy, postpartum and postpartum services and sexual and reproductive rights of adolescents.
At the end of the rally, the guests visited the stalls. Among the stalls, Upazila Health Complex, Kamarpukur Union Health and Family Welfare Center were awarded as the best stalls. Corona vaccine awareness drama ‘Drama for Development’ has also been screened. There was a huge response from the people present.
The campaign was organized with the involvement of Upazila Administration, Health and Family Planning Department.
This campaign will be held in all the upazilas of Nilphamari in phases. The first campaign event started in Saidpur on July 4 and will end on July 26 in Domar upazila of Nilphamari.
Omar Farooq, project manager of Plan International Bangladesh’s Score project said, members of the Score project’s adolescent team have made significant contributions to vaccination as well as school and community awareness campaigns.
