BSS, Dhaka :
Road Transport and Bridges Minister and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Thursday said the coronavirus sample testing facility will be expanded gradually to every district of the country.
“For the delay in collecting Covid-19 samples and delivering the test reports, such a situation is being created where the Covid-19 patients and their relatives are being worried and losing their morale,” he told a virtual press briefing from his official residence here.
Quader said there are allegations that some hospitals and clinics are conducting unnecessary Covid-19 test, increasing the plights of the patients.
Stressing the need for ensuring effective coordination among the medical agencies, he urged all concerned to set an example of humanity during the ongoing coronavirus crisis.
About the allegations of BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, the AL general secretary said the government is not doing any politics during this crisis, while the ruling Awami League is not giving any political programme too.
“Now the politics is to stop coronavirus infection and save the lives of the people,” he added.
Qauder said BNP has lost resorts for its negative politics and that is why the party has nothing to do now without making ‘blind criticism’ of the government by issuing statements.
Mentioning that there is adequate food stock in the country, he said the country’s foreign reserve has increased to US$ 35 billion even amid the ongoing adverse situation and the remittance flow is continuing.
The minister urged all private firms not to terminate their employees during the coronavirus pandemic.
The nation had achieved its goal together under the leadership of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 1971, Quader said, expressing the belief that in the same way, the country would be able to tackle the coronavirus crisis through mutual sympathy, sacrifice and self-determination under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
