RTPCR machine out of order: Corona test at SNMCH closed for last 8 days

The RTPCR machine of Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College Hospital (SNMCH) in Kishoreganj has not been functioning for last eight days. It is almost out of order. Due to this, no corona test has been done in the hospital. Civil Surgeon (CS) of Kishoreganj Dr. Mujibur Rahman confirmed the matter.
Civil Surgeon said, the RT PCR machine in SNMCH lab had suddenly broken down since last Thursday. Since then, samples from patients with corona symptoms have not been tested. As the machine broke down, more than eight hundred samples were deposited.
However, the stuck corona test samples are to be sent to Dhaka on Sunday morning for testing.
But in the health complexes of other upazilas of Kishoreganj ,the patients who have corona symptoms through rapid antigen are being tested for Covid-19, CS added.
SNMCH Principal Dr. Nazrul Islam told the New Nation that they have already sent engineers from where the RTPCR machine was supplied. The machine is being repaired.
The Real Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RTPCR) Lab was set up at the hospital on May 31, 2020 from here, 18 samples were tested in two shifts every day.
