Two expatriates were fined and 181 returnees were ordered to stay in Home Quarantine in 15 Wards in Chandpur Municipal areas.
DC Mazedur Rahman Khan and Chandpur Municipal Mayor Nasiruddin Ahmed have directed these returnees, recently returned from abroad, to follow this rule strictly staying at homes for the greater interest of the people.
One person who returned home from abroad a few days ago was fined Tk 20 thousand at Shilasthan village in Kochua on Saturday noon.
Acting on a tip, UNO and Executive Magistrate Dipayan Das Shuvo fined him,35, for breach of Home Quarantine and directed him to stay in Home Quarantine for 14 days.
On the other hand, another expatriate who came home on 11 March and also a bridegroom named Mohammad Milon Mia,25, of Ward No 3 in Kollanpur union in Chandpur Sadar was fined Tk 20 thousand on Friday afternoon at 4.30 pm on charge of breaching home quarantine rule of Government.
Milon went out and got married on Friday afternoon when UNO Sadar Kanij Fatema fined him and sent him to Home Quarantine. Acting on a tip off, she did it.
Benapole Correspondent reports : Some 1200 people returned home from abroad In Jhikargachha upazila of Jashore district last one month.
But they are moving freely in local hats, bazars and Public place. They are not obey the Government instructions. This has extreme panic among the local people. Locals complained to the police but no action being done.
It is reported that many of them came from different countries including Italy, Malaysia and Bahrain after the Corona virus was infected.
Locals informed to the police station about their freely movement in public place but police were being asked to report to the Upazila Health Department.
The upazila health department has claimed responsibility for the quarantine.
Dr. Habibur Rahman Jhikargachha upazila health officer said that the Deputy Commissioner has convened an emergency meeting with every Upazila Chairman and its members, Health Officers, UP Chairman and their members and made a committee to prevent the Corona virus in Jashore district.

Health department officials and employees will newly make a returnees list and submit it to the health department high official. After receiving this list we will take action.
All will be kept in the mandatory quarantine. This is a challenge of our 15 days. We must support all citizens in this challenge. Under this challenge and the awareness of all, the country may be able to come out of great risk Dr Habibur Rahman said.
Abdur Rajjak, officer in-charge, Jhikorgacha police station said that We are taking action against any complaint regarding the position of returnees. It is being warned that no one can get out from the resident.
BSS from Rangpur adds: Strict supervision of the authorities concerned, 1,825 migrants are remaining in quarantine at homes in Rangpur division to prevent community transmission of coronavirus (COVID-19).Talking to BSS, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said 304 new migrants have been quarantined at homes during the last 24 hours in all eight districts of Rangpur division.
“A total of 2,184 migrants were quarantined at homes so far in Rangpur division and of them, 359 were given clearance after their stay in home quarantine for 14 days without symptoms of coronavirus,” he said.
Presently, 1,825 migrants are remaining in home quarantines, including 191 in Rangpur, 562 in Panchagarh, 168 in Nilphamari, 131 in Lalmonirhat, 176 in Kurigram, 174 in Thakurgaon, 197 in Dinajpur and 226 in Gaibandha districts of the division.
Dr. Siddiqui said 10 beds are ready at the Isolation Unit of Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH) and 3 to 4 beds ready in every upazila headquarters across Rangpur division for isolation of COVID-19 infected people anytime.
Besides, 200 beds have been kept ready to keep expatriate Bangladeshis or suspected coronavirus infected patients in quarantine at the newly built 100-bed Rangpur Shishu Hospital in the city.
“The 31-bed Haragachh Hospital, Tazhat Chest Disease Hospital, Primary Teachers’ Training Institute and Training Centre of the Department of Youth Development in the city will be used as Corona Units if needed anytime in the future,” he added.
Talking to BSS, Rangpur Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Md. Amin Ahmed Khan stressed on public awareness to ensure cent percent quarantines of migrants for 14 days to prevent community transmission of COVID-19 for avoiding an unfortunate situation.
He put special emphasis on creating community level awareness and engaging comprehensive efforts to ensure quarantine of all migrants for preventing community transmission of COVID-19 in Rangpur division.
Meanwhile, members of the Armed Forces have started assisting the civil administration in different preventive measures to contain the spread of COVID-19 in all eight districts of Rangpur division as elsewhere in the country.
Additional Divisional Commissioner (General) Md. Zakir Hossain said the Armed Forces today attended meetings with Deputy Commissioners and other officials to chalk out plans to face the COVID-19 situation.
“The Armed Forces will assist the civil administrations in preventing mass gathering, ensuring quarantine of expatriate Bangladeshis, monitoring institutional quarantine and isolation units and health service providing facilities in the division,” he added.
Deputy Commissioner of Rangpur Md. Asib Ahsan said the Armed Forces will assist the civil administration from tomorrow to face the COVID-19 situation in the district as per plans chalked out in a meeting held at his conference room here .
300 people released from home quarantine in Barishal Divn : Barishal Correspondent adds: Doctors opening messenger group giving mobile number for free consultations about Corona.
Dr. Mahbubur Rahman Rajib, former student of dental faculty of Barishal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital and founder member of the group said the group initiated by Dr. Alia Mahjabin four days ago along with Dr. Rehan Akhtar, Dr. Niloy Prasad Chakraborty, and Dr.Asaduzzaman Shuvo.
Within 96 hours more eighty doctors and public health experts joining in the group “24/7 We for people By NSU Public Health Department” and #nonstop247 with their mobile contact numbers.
The group already created sensations among the mass people and within this period they answered more than three thousand calls asking them not to be panicked, gurgle with hot water, taking ginger, said Dr. S M Sarwar, head of SBMCH ENT department and secretary of teachers association.
The group advising people about protection from corona virus infection and after consulting their symptoms suggesting them whether they need to go to hospital or observe home quarantine taking simple cautions and primary medicines like paracitamols or Napa, informed Dr. Mustafa Kamal, outdoor medical officer of the hospital.
Dr Nahid Hasan, medical officer of Barishal City Corporation, also including his number in the group giving free medical advice to the citizens.
Dr Manisha Chakraborty, member-secretary of Barishal district BSD, also opening a helpline started serving people creating a medical team.
Dr. Basudev Kumar Das, Barishal Divisional Health Director, appreciating these attempts of the physicians, said this will help to control spreading of rumor, panic and also infection of virus.
Barishal divisional director of health, informed total 1,994 persons observing home quarantine system in six districts of the division including 395 in Barishal, 587 in Patuakhali, 272 in Bhola, 304 in Pirojpur, 264 in Barguna and 161 in Jhalakathi districts and 11 in Barishal City Corporation areas.
Besides 286 including 91 of Barishal, 64 of Patuakhali, 36 of Pirojpur, 63 of Barguna and 32 of Jhalakathi ending their quarantined period returned to normal life, he added.
Three admitted at isolation units of Barishal SBMCH and Barguna GH, also released from hospital and till this none found corona-positive infected patient in the division, divisional health director told.
