A section of Police personnel allegedly harassed some passengers, including a minor girl and her mother, inside a passenger bus of Unique Paribahan in the name of checking on Friday afternoon, victims said.
Anwar Bagum, a passenger of the bus, said, “A team of on-duty police, led
by one Sumon, a Sub-Inspector of Akbar Shah Police Station intercepted the bus (No319) of Unique Paribahan, and to check the passengers’ belongings in CT gate area of Chittagong around 6:00pm. At one stage, Summon came to me and asked me to show my luggage. I told him that I have no bag except this shopping bag.”
But he angrily denied to accept my any claim, rather asked me why I didn’t carry any luggage during the long journey?
According to the victim, after a few minutes, the police man snatched my mobile phone and shopping bag and asked me to meet him at the police station. But when I refused to go with him, the police man pulled my five years daughter on the road forcibly though she was crying loudly during the departure from my lap.
“They had taken me at a near by bus garage and tried to search my body with the male police man and their informers. I was fully astonished and speechless by observing their inhuman behaviour,” she alleged.
“My daughter fell sick and show the attitude like an abnormal baby. After realizing the situation, I took her to doctor for consultations,” she informed.
Mohammad Alamgir, Officer-in Charge (OC) of Akbar Shah Police Station, told The New Nation on Friday night, “The CT gate area is our regular checking point. The on-duty police man searched her bag as usual system. But what other things he allegedly done is completely unlawful.”
If the allegation is proved, he will be brought under justice, the OC said.
